Why this site says something different
Most fall prevention advice tells people to do less. Be careful. Take it slow. Avoid the stairs.
The research points the other way. Staying active is protective. Fear of falling leads people to move less, which costs them strength and balance, which makes a fall more likely. Advice that shrinks someone’s life doesn’t make them safer.
So you won’t find recommendations here to give things up. Where a real hazard exists, we say how to remove it. Where something is difficult, we explain how to do it safely rather than suggesting you stop.
